Details of an Inner Landscape1

Individual perception and the processing of impressions is the overarching theme of my work. In particular, I am interested in how highly personal impressions triggered by the world around us develop into inner thoughts and stories that ultimately shape our understanding of who we are, and our worldview.
The question of how we discover, choose, memorise and process the finer details of our surroundings is at the heart of my photographic series Details of an Inner Landscape.
In this work, details of natural elements discovered during walks and some of them analysed under the microscope come together to create and reflect a personal “inner sketchbook”.
I experimented with digital photography and light to capture subtle changes in colour, define shadows, portray impressions, and reflect on the diversity of natural forms, materials and textures to form an inner landscape of impressions.
