I am a maker who creates objects.
My imagery comes from research and observation, living organisms and their dynamics are my main inspiration/concern. This imagery is first outlined by drawing and later shaped in volume thus making an object. Most of my pieces can be considered as figurines.
I have a love and hate relationship with figurines. My problem is with those I do not have an especial connection and occupy space on shelves, gathering dust. Usually those ones are mass produced as part of a decorative, gift and souvenir industry. They are not unique nor special. At the same time I acknowledge the possibilities for expression and empathy trigger the figurine has. Figurines can be a way to build a new reality or archetypes
Ideas interest me more than the finalization of a project, though I am aware the finished object is what stays as my means of communication with the future public.
Clay is my most favored material for its malleability and capability to become like a rock, fixing the moment. The almost magical process of firing that transforms clay into ceramics augments the symbolical value of making a particular object.
I like to produce my own individual work, but I find very gratifying to share technical and artistic skills in cooperative projects or as an assistant to another creator. The creative process is my preferred way to encounter the world.
