My work focuses on such topics as anatomy, self-portraiture, nature and female iconography. Underpinning the imagery in my work is the idea that familiar and prosaic objects, events and places are always potentially fascinating and strange.
Through my own experiences I highlight the everyday and common place to communicate messages which evoke something special and extraordinary. In order to explore this, I make work in a variety of media: drawings, paintings, monoprints, etchings and sculpture. Within each medium, I have tried to find a formal quality that echoes and expresses my subject matter. |
