Claudia Borgna was born in Germany and raised in Italy.

After graduating from Genoa University in foreign literature, she moved to London where she completed a fine art degree at the London Metropolitan University. Since then Claudia has been exhibiting internationally and attended fellowship residencies in Europe, Canada and the USA. Recently she has graduated from the Public Practice MFA programme at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles where she was awarded the Board of Governors Scholarship as well as an international scholarship.

Claudia is also the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Grant, the Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner Grant, the Royal British Society of Sculptors Bursary Award and the Pritzker Foundation Endowed Fellowship Award. Voted The Public Speaks Winner for the Broomhill National Sculpture Prize she was short-listed for the BBC2 documentary School of Saatchi and commended for the British Women Artist’s Prize.

Through installation, performance and video art Claudia explores the political, social and environmental functions of art making. Her work is an ongoing observation questioning how the “plastic” and the natural realms interact with one another by creating new ephemeral structures and orders.

www.claudiaborgna.org is Claudia's new website where her new body of works can be visited at.
