|Annie Blanchet Rouze is a French artist based in London. Since her graduation year in 2009 (BA Honours Fine Art), at Central Saint Martins College of Art, London, she has been working on mixed media paintings and sculptures. Annie also regularly takes part in different exhibitions in galleries and art fairs. The most recent ones are The Other Art Fair London, Oxford, Reading, Windsor and Brighton art fairs.|
As an artist, the main essence of Annie’s artwork lies in the fusion between the use of different kinds of materials and the emotional outcome through imagination.
Annie’s artworks modify, reinvent, reduce or increase some aspects of the real. For instance, in her recent series of mixed media paintings, she works in moving things by transposition, accentuates the lines of skyscrapers, the features of iconic images in a new way, playing on volumes that are offered. The uniqueness of her artwork is also striking by the transformation she operates with colours. It is a game of balance and organised forces. These distortions are based on the metamorphosis of the landscape. No way for the artist to neglect nature in the urban. The artist scans from more figurative to really abstract, from the obvious to suggestion.
Annie works in layers: Collages of photographic reproductions, pigments, Indian ink, oil and acrylic paints, resin glaze; subtle grey colours mixed with pastel and bright colours.
