|At first glance, my work appears to be neither "edgy" nor "off the wall", unlike so many other pieces of art which are relevant to today's issues. I believe this piece to be not only relevant but executed relevantly. I painted this piece to raise an awareness of the decline of bees. I am also beekeeper, doing my part to naturally sustain and treat a diseased and limited population of the tiny creatures which pollinate the bulk of our crops, food for us and our animals.|
My studio practice revolves around my interest in going back to basics, exploring the lost techniques of the old masters. I began using beeswax in my oil paintings some years ago as a glaze, exploring other techniques with wax such as encaustic work and scraffito. I now have adapted all these to my own technique using wax from "My girls"
