KRISTINA SIMENSKI
d.o.b. 1966

Kristina is an artist living and working in Essex, England. Her passion for working on large canvas avails itself to express her current works with impact and scale. Her paintings capture the intensity of energy and emotion, executed with an organic quality. Kristina's work challenges concepts of the intangible, and boundless, within a fixed form.

Kristina's stimulus is her constant desire to replicate and mirror the potentiality of energy in its many forms. Whether ethereal, elemental or emotional, its effects are creatively transferred into the visual and reintroduced onto canvas as if momentarily fused within a formulation of volatility, a non-static state captured with resonating energy.

Passionate to create works that visually draw the onlooker into an altered concept of being with an awareness of feeling, Kristina's use of texture and layering of medium prompts a need to be tactile, an urge to reach out and connect with the work. Her evident style of Abstract expressionism portrays the works dynamically and with fluidity, whilst encompassing an exuberance of emotion and energy that transfers to the observers senses.

ELEMENTS SERIES (2007-2009)
These works created over the last two years, explore the use of acrylics and dry compound over many layers to capture the movement and depths of the elements and their effect on other matter using magnified colour, whilst challenging the concept of constant flow and the indefinite.
Earth, fire, air and water are apparent yet undefined. The work creates a window through which the viewer can experience this private and ever-changing world.
There is an interesting relationship between the kinetic atmosphere and the overwhelming subconscious response within the reality of two-dimensional representation.

SILENT SPACE (2010)
Kristina's series entitled Silent Space is currently being created to connect the visual effects of phenomenal energy in the vacuumed silence of the universe with a view to mirror the intensity of human emotion as if to give colour and form to our feelings.
The energy release or containment of our deepest feelings, from despair to elation, is reflected in a silent visual form. By use colour on dark background, Kristina dramatically explores the destructive-creative, creative-destructive cycle.

(2012) 'NEVER NEVER' Acrylic/mixed media on canvas

As a small child we take refuge in our imagination as it offers up a world of many/any endless possibilities. A place where once fear and excitement safely went hand in hand. Those objects and images are now part memoir, part fiction, part truth. Myth and make-believe all blurred by time yet remembered in a glorious technicoloured haze.

Our memory is our coherence, or reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are nothing our imagination and our dreams are forever invading our memories of course, fantasy and reality are equally personal, equally felt, so their confusion is a matter of only relative importance' (Luis Bunuel, 'My Last sigh', New York, 1983)
