Born in Merseyside in 1946 I studied painting at the Central School of Art and the Slade. I exited the gallery system when I stopped painting large landscapes and started painting cracks in walls. Over the years I earned my living doing graphics, animation, illustration and textile design, as my unpressured painting direction was still a guide in my search for a stronger identity. I almost ground to a halt with Photo Realism !
A series of life events sent me into a nosedive and on recovery, with help, I found my painting territory at the tender age of 45.
I paint where I live, in north London. Surrounded by so many canvasses I could, as predicted, end up painting miniatures in the middle of my flat!
