JoWonder, (born Joanna Woodward), is an artist whose work creates a magical irony stolen from myth and tradition in folklore, literature, and painting. She is visual artist and a multi award winning animator, whose avant-garde stop frame animations have been noted by mythographer Marina Warner. Her animated film 'The Brooch Pin And The Sinful Clasp, was internationally acclaimed and aired on Channel 4 Television; subsequently The Wellcome Trust commissioned her to make an animated painting in bacteria of John Millais Ophelia; she has since explored stand up comedy as performance art, and performed an extract from her decoupage book with live animated projections, Phoenix Gallery, Brighton 2016. Some of her work will be featured in NEON DREAMS at 'The Lights Of Soho Gallery,' in London on April 18, 2017.

Above an excerpt from an audience interactive performance in the manner of a mock Victorian Séance lasting 45 minutes. Using humor as a central device, combining storytelling with improvised performance. A chosen member of the audience drinks a cup of tea, and a process unravels which makes the participant believe in their ability to 'sculpt time.' A man falls in love with a ballerina that he sees dancing at the top of a tower block and sets off on a journey to find her, he finds an evil mechanical brooch on a giant 's shawl. Giant played by renowned performance artist Rose English. Winner Grand Priz Zageb Festival and Best Newcomer Cardif animation festival and The Time Out Film Award,UK.

Jo started experimental performance work with The Washroom Collective in 2006, who's work typically involves improvisation and audience interaction. Since then she has trained with the Improbable Theater Company and explored a surreal stand up comedy persona.

Above animated Film: Sawdust For Brains And The Key Of Wisdom was commissioned by Channel 4, Television. A woman is transformed into a puppet by a sorcerer with a magic key. She is given a glimpse of the mechanisms that create fate. Stop frame animation using puppets and live actors, running time 11 minutes:

Animated Film: 'Flatlanders.'

Shown in Guildford Cathedral to support a science debate around the nuclear experiment at 'The Centre for European Nuclear Research'(CERN) This was a collaboration with the The Very Revd Victor Stock, scientists Professors Brian Cox, and Jim Al-Khalili. Also shown as a part of 'The New Future' at The Columbia Arts Center, USA.

Animated Film: '6 Days Goodbye Poems Of Ophelia,'

Research funded by The Wellcome Trust with microbiology input from Dr Simon Park. The piece features an animated version of John Millais Ophelia created out of bacteria - to pay poetic tribute to Ophelia Call: 44(0)207-1839366.

1991 commissioned by the BBC Bristol to make The Weatherhouse for a New Directors slot. 1993 Channel 4 Television commission to write and direct, 'Sawdust For Brains And The Key Of Wisdom'(see above)shown on C4 and in two special UK cinema programs 'Showcase For The Avant-garde' and 'Grotesque Imaginings' at the National Film Theatre and international festivals. 1990 'The Brooch Pin And The Sinful Clasp', (was winner of the Grand Priz Animafest Zagreb) and is distributed on 'Connoisseur Video' this work was also a part of 'Between Imagination and Reality' an Arts Council tour. The work is also referenced in 'From Beast To Blonde' author Marina Warner.She was a Fellow in animation at Bristol University.
