This is an oil painting on wood panel. This painting is loosely based on a vintage black and white photograph. Although this painting was based on a small black/white photograph my paintings' colour and image looks very much like a friend of mine. I enjoy having a free reign with my paintbrush and colour a large amount of the detail without any pre-known directions. It comes together, sometimes changing course and direction in my studio. I often think of homemade clothing and that this dungaree dress was handmade and the bow in the hair too.
