I have a BA and MA from Winchester School of Art; I live and work in Portsmouth and have a studio with Art Space Portsmouth.
Primarily as a painter, although I also use photography and printmaking, I work in oils, and as well as "conventional" painting I use oil bars to draw on the canvas contrasting more settled aspects against the immediacy of the drawn line, and thus encouraging a sense of urgency in the viewer. I examine the emotional spaces around relationships: their illusions and disillusions of commitment so that the contradictions within the surface of space and tension reflect the dynamics themselves around the relationships under scrutiny. |
